Outreach and Education

Mirimichi strives to inform and educate the public on environmental issues and our ongoing projects at the course. The goal of our outreach program is to raise environmental literacy with:

  • Awareness and sensitivity to the environment and environmental challenges
  • Knowledge and understanding of the environment and environmental challenges
  • Attitudes of concern for the environment and motivation to improve or maintain environmental quality
  • Skills to identify and help resolve environmental challenges
  • Participation in activities that lead to the resolution of environmental challenges

Our commitment to education begins with our own staff. Each employee learns their environmental responsibilities through the Employee Guide to Sustainability, coursework, and facility environmental tour. Our staff not only internalize this environmental ethic as part of their contributions to the Mirimichi team, but also reach out to golfers, visitors and the community to spread the word. Many of our staff lead presentations at public events and gatherings such as:

  • Community organizations including Rotary and other service groups
  • Schools
  • Churches
  • Businesses
  • Garden clubs and other hobby/interest groups
  • Government, Chambers of Commerce and Visitors Bureaus
